The two Swiss national team goalkeepers have made themselves available to be selected on June 17.

Andrea Brändli

For Andrea Brändli, the fact that she was leaving Frölunda to try her luck in North America was already known. Her stellar performances at the 2026 Olympic Games, including being named best goaltender, made her a better-known name.

In Saskia Maurer's case, her declaration for the draft is more of a surprise, as she is still under contract with the SC Bern Frauen. She, too, gained popularity for her performances in Milano.

The goalies are two of the 235 players eligible to be picked at the 2026 PWHL Draft, which will be held on June 17 in Detroit (US). First choice goes to the Vancouver Goldeneyes.

Other players from the PostFinance Women's League have declared for the draft as well. Bri Eid, Joelle Fiala (both HCD Ladies), Laura Fuoco (EVZ Frauen), Lea MacLoud (SCB Frauen), Tatum White, and Alexandria Weiss (both Neuchâtel Hockey Academy) may be headed overseas.
