Olympic Games

In a tight game against Finland, the Swiss women's national team pulled through to move to the next stage of the Olympic tournament.

The first period remained scoreless, with the Finns putting a lot more shots on goal than the Swiss. The second period did not look different in terms of shots, but Alina Müller converted one of those shots into a goal, giving the Swiss the lead after 35 minutes of play.

The third period saw more of the same, but the Swiss held onto their lead. Five minutes before the end of the game, Switzerland's Laura Zimmermann was penalised for high-sticking. The Swiss were able to withstand the Finns' power play, only to receive another penalty in the 59th minute of play.

However, the Finns took themselves a penalty 43 seconds later. Despite the Finns having their goalie pulled to get a 5-4 advantage, the Swiss managed to survive the Finns' final push, won 1-0 and will thus play in the semifinals. Their opponent on Monday will be Canada.
