It appears the National League clubs have been busy working on a proposition on how to "save" the Swiss League. As Klaus Zaugg ("Watson") writes, they submitted a project to Swiss Ice Hockey that would shake up the second-highest league as well as the highest junior level quite a bit.
Instead of just eleven teams as it is right now, there would be 24, geographically divided into east and west. The 13 new teams are supposedly formed from the National League clubs' U21 squads, effectively eliminating the U21 championship (only HC Ajoie does not have a team at the highest junior level). Those new Swiss League teams would be allowed two over-agers or two imports, while nothing would change for the already existing teams. Promotion/relegation between the National and the Swiss League would still (supposedly) be a thing.
If the hockey federation and the Swiss League clubs were to reject this proposal, the National League might start up their own U23 league, independent from the other parties.
