With HCV Martigny gone from the Swiss League, the defenseman is moving up the Rhõne Valley to continue his career.

HC Sierre is adding a veteran defenseman for the coming season - Sami El Assaoui. He is no stranger to the region, as he spent the majority of the last eight years with Martigny, suiting up for them in both the Swiss and the MyHockey League.
32-year-old Assaoui has 403 games in the Swiss League plus an additional 87 in the National League under his belt, for various teams.
Sierre is somewhat of a homecoming for the defenseman, having spent his early junior time there.
