As "Le Matin" writes, team managers of Swiss League clubs are accusing the Canadian manager of upsetting the market with his aggressive strategy. “He's terribly aggressive on the market,” the newspaper is told. “He'll make sick offers to anything that moves,” a team manager from another club states. Concerning Julien Privet, HC La Chaux-de-Fonds' team manager Loïc Burkhalter only confirms to the newspaper that the forward refused an offer for an extension.
Other actors of the Swiss League scene are complaining about Chris McSorley's aggressive approach: “We haven't seen anything like this since Lausanne HC put together a team to reach the National League”, says a veteran of the profession. Another manager adds: “It's dangerous because, if you get into the game, you blow the budget.”
However, according to a player's agent, the prices were driven down during the Covid-19 pandemic and now, thanks to McSorley, they are back to normal. For his part, the Canadian himself only has a few words to say: "Players don't want to come to Sierre for a contract; they want to come for a project. Let my counterparts in the other Swiss League teams rest assured: I'm only interested in National League hockey players.”
