Florian Schmuckli to retire from professional hockey

The captain of the Mice will hang up his skates at the end of the 2024-25 season.

The 31-year-old defenseman has been with EHC Olten since the 2020-21 season. He already decided to retire last summer but revealed his decision to his teammates today.

Schmuckli is a product of EV Zug's organization and made his pro debut for them in the 2012-13 season. He suited up for EV Zug, EHC Basel, the GCK Lions, the ZSC Lions, the EVZ Academy, the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, HC Thurgau and EHC Olten throughout his career. This season, he has recorded four goals in 20 games.
