As the "Oltner Tagblatt" reports, the 25-year-old forward dislocated his shoulder by doing a faceoff. The Latvian could not continue to play and was brought to hospital.
It is not yet clear how long Melnalksnis will be out of EHC Olten's lineup but it will almost certainly be months. They would like to treat his shoulder injury conservatively but the forward will undergo further medical exams to determine how badly his ligaments are injured and whether he will really not require surgery.
Eliot Antonietti also missed the last game due to a suspected concussion but might be able to return to the lineup for the game against EHC Visp. As EHC Olten is, however, short on players, they are looking to add someone to their roster via B-license.
In happier news, EHC Olten was able to complete the planned share capital increase. The share capital has been increased from CHF 1,292,898 to CHF 1,692,898.
