HC Thurgau has signed Victor Backman to a one-year deal. He joins them from their Swiss League rival, the GCK Lions, and will form part of their import duo, alongside Daniel Ljunggren.
"With Backman, we were able to sign a forward who knows our league and has already earned his spurs here over the years", Thurgau's team manager Patrick Brändli states. "In various discussions, Backman has impressed us with his sporting ambition and professional attitude. We are convinced that he is the right player to bring even more ambition to our locker room."
33-year-old Backman joined the GCK Lions in 2018, went back home to Sweden during the 2020-21 season but returned to Zurich again afterwards. Throughout his time in Switzerland, the forward has put up 105 goals and 178 assists in 245 Swiss League games. He also occasionally suited up in the National League, recording five goals and twelve assists in 30 appearances.
