EHC Kloten has found imports numbers five and six for the upcoming season. Defenseman Lukáš Klok, joining from SC Bern, has signed on until next summer, and forward Brandon Gignac, previously a member of the Laval Rocket, is staying for two years.
"Lukáš helps us in all areas and will give us additional stability", Kloten's team manager Ricardo Schödler comments on one of his new protegees. Besides his home country, Czechia, 30-year-old Klok has played in Finland, Sweden, Russia, Slovakia, the US, and Switzerland (HC Lugano and, as mentioned above, Bern).
As for Gignac, the Canadian was drafted in the third round by the New Jersey Devils but never found his footing in the NHL, neither with the Devils nor his next organization, the Canadiens de Montréal. The eight appearances in said league are no comparison to the 327 games (68 goals, 118 assists) he made in the AHL. Schödler had some words about the 27-year-old, too. "Brandon fits perfectly into our DNA, playing with great speed and creativity."
