After eight seasons, Marco Müller will return to SC Bern, his formative club. With the Bears, the 30-year-old has signed a two-year deal valid from the 2025-26 season. Müller left Bern in 2017 for HC Ambrì-Piotta. During the 2021-22 season, he suited up for EV Zug. Then, from 2022 he has been a member of HC Lugano.
In addition to the acquisition of the forward, SC Bern also announced the early extension of head coach Jussi Tapola's contract. Tapola has been the man behind the bench for SC Bern since last season and will thus stay at least until the end of the 2025-26 championship. “Jussi has already proven in a short period of time that he has the skills to coach our team at the highest level,” explains team manager Patrik Bärtschi.
Sporting Director Martin Plüss, too, praises the Finn's work: “Jussi did a very good job last season, stabilizing and strengthening our team, but also developing it further. He stands for the performance culture we strive for and his mentality fits the DNA of the SCB. Under his leadership, young players were both used and developed, while established players were also promoted.”
