Marc Crawford steps down as head coach of the ZSC Lions

As the ZSC Lions inform, Marc Crawford has decided to step down from his position as head coach due to mental health reasons. "During his time with us, Marc Crawford has always demanded 100% commitment from his players and the entire team - and just as much from himself", team manager Sven Leuenberger comments. "As he now feels that he can no longer give 100% himself, he is drawing the line and stepping down as coach."

Crawford's second stint with the Lions ends with the team as defending Swiss champions, National League leader and a spot in the semifinals of the Champions Hockey League.

"This decision is a source of sorrow for him, as he can no longer support the team and the organization", Leuenberger continues. "At the same time, we as a club deeply regret this development, but fully understand and have great respect for his courageous step."

For the remainder of the season, Marco Bayer will take over as head coach. His support staff will stay the same as under Crawford, with Rob Cookson's position newly named associate coach, Fabio Schwarz, goalie coach Magnus Wennström, and strength and conditioning coach Mattia Stendahl.

Bayer's previous job as head coach of the GCK Lions will be filled by assistant Peter Andersson, and a yet-to-be-announced new assistant.
