HC Lugano has reportedly signed Finnish defender Lassi Thomson

In possession of a one-year deal with the Ottawa Senators, but only appearing for their AHL partner team, Lassi Thomson is apparently ready to return to Europe for the 2026-27 season. As Expressen writes, the Finn might even return already this season, but in that case, he still has a contract with Malmö, his team for the 2024-25 season.

Thomson was drafted by the Ottawa Senators 19th overall in 2019. After two seasons on loan to Ilves in the Liiga, he departed overseas for his first experience with the Senators' organization. He then joined Malmö in 2024 before leaving again for Ottawa this season. However, he is yet to dress up for Ottawa in this championship.

In 32 AHL games for the Belleville Senators, Thomson scored seven goals and assisted six times.
