Gian-Marco Hammerer finished the past season under contract with Lausanne HC after spending the first part of the 2024-25 season in Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan with Västerås IK. With the Lions, however, he could play only nine games due to a shoulder injury sustained in February. Lausanne HC did not offer him a new contract, and now Hammerer has been living the life of a free agent with the goal of continuing to play in the National League.
"I'm enjoying the summer, even away from training and ice hockey. Spending a little time for the soul is also good," he says. He just has to stay positive. “The only thing I can do is show patience, believe in my own abilities, and keep working hard so that I'm ready when something comes up," he tells the "Bündner Tagblatt".
