As "NZZ" reports, a deal with Canadian investors offers HC Ambri-Piotta some relief from its debt, but questions remain about the club's financial future.

Despite a near-full stadium attendance and a profit of CHF 350,000.- at the end of the 2023-24 season, HC Ambrì-Piotta remains burdened by significant financial obligations the newspaper writes. Debts from the construction of the Gottardo Arena, pandemic-era loans, and other liabilities leave little room for operational flexibility. The club’s earnings are almost entirely absorbed by interest payments, with outstanding debts from the stadium reportedly reaching 10 million francs.

Club's president Filippo Lombardi has apparently since secured a 1.5 million franc investment from Canadian backers, though details about the deal remain unclear. According to "Ticinonews", the investor is Mike Gillis, former general manager of the Vancouver Canucks. The 66-year-old businessman is reportedly interested in entering the Swiss market. Gillis was the general manager of the Canucks from 2008 to 2014 while between 2016 and 2018, he was a member of Genève-Servette HC's board of directors.
