The Economic Affairs Committee voted against having a special rule for top-level sports in the Cartel Act.

In June of last year, the Council of States had accepted a motion that would allow for a Salary Cap agreement between clubs to become part of the Cartel Act. The National Council's Economic Affairs Committee is of a different opinion, as the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" writes. They voted against the introduction of the passage by 14 to 8, with two abstentions.

In the Commitee's opinion, such a legal basis in the Cartel Act would be "embarrassing", the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" notes. Should there be a special rule, it would have to be part of a separate sports development act. There were also voices stating that a Salary Cap would harm the international competitiveness of the clubs.
