A two-year contract with SC Bern was in store for Kalle Kossila. However, as the National League club announced today, the forward will not join them - he failed his medical checks. To still have seven imports at their disposal, Bern signed Austin Czarnik to a deal valid for the coming season.
Czarnik, 31, joins them from the Detroit Red Wings' organization. There, he spent the last two years splitting time between the NHL and the AHL, a thing he previously did for other organizations, too. In total, the forward has appeared 206 times in the NHL and 347 times in the AHL.
"Czarnik is a center that is strong on both sides of the puck and can be used in all situations", Bern's team manager Patrick Bärtschi states. "We are convinced he will be able to help the team with his experience and leadership."
