Both teams came out determined to win the final game of the tournament. The first period was hard-fought, but the Finns dominated. Although both teams had power-play opportunities, neither scored. The Finns appeared to score the first goal of the night, but it was disallowed because the puck was deflected into the net by a high stick.

At the end of the first period, Switzerland had the chance to play 5-on-3 hockey. The penalties carried over into the second period, but Switzerland did not manage to score. The game remained close, with both teams trying to prevent scoring opportunities for the other team. However, the Swiss found their game again, and the last five minutes of the second period clearly belonged to them.

They continued to pressure the Finns until the middle of the third period, when the momentum shifted in favor of the Finns. Still, while both teams had their chances, their goalies prevented anyone from scoring. The Finns had another high-level chance a few seconds before the end of the period, but as they did not score, the game headed to overtime.

The Finns almost scored the game-winner shortly into overtime, as they hit the post. The Swiss also hit the crossbar four minutes in. Both teams defended well, even playing three-on-three, but eventually the Finns, who had gained momentum, pushed through, and Konsta Helenius scored the game-winner.

The Swiss finish the tournament with only one loss and are now in first place in the IIHF World Ranking. Three Swiss players made the All-Star Team: Leonardo Genoni, Roman Josi, and Sven Andrighetto. Henri Jokiharju (FIN) and Macklin Celebrini (CAN) were the other two players. Roman Josi was named MVP of the tournament.
